Restoring balance is at the root of revitalization. When hormone levels are less than optimal, men and women suffer from a variety of mental and physical symptoms. Hormone replacement therapy can help. While there are many treatment options available, our most popular option is bioidentical hormone replacement pellet therapy.
As we age, hormone levels drop and can become out of balance, causing symptoms ranging from fatigue and weight gain to decreased libido and brain fog. BHRT pellets offer a way to raise and stabilize hormone levels. Many patients report beginning to feel relief from symptoms and a better quality of life within two to four weeks of starting hormone pellet therapy. Some research suggests that maintaining healthy hormone levels may help protect against diseases such as osteoporosis, heart disease, cancer, and Alzheimer’s disease.
Consistent - BHRT pellets deliver a steady and consistent dose of hormones for three to six months at a time.
Convenient - BHRT pellets do not require daily pills or weekly injections.
Customized - Birch Medical & Wellness BHRT pellets are customized doses created in a trusted and specially licensed compounding pharmacy.
More natural -BHRT uses hormones derived from plants that are chemically identical to hormones in the endocrine system such as testosterone, estrogen, and progesterone.
Customized hormone replacement therapy treatment plans at Birch Medical & Wellness include:
A consultation with your provider to review and discuss your goals and any questions or concerns
Screenings such as lab work and symptom assessment
Pellet insertion
Follow-up lab work after six weeks to adjust dosage or monitor hormone levels
Insert new pellets every three to four months
Patients who are new to hormone replacement therapy should expect to wait for one to two weeks between the initial consultation and pellet insertion appointment. Some patients who have had previous pellet therapy may be able to have pellets inserted during the initial consultation.
The Procedure
Before the pellet insertion, an injection of local anesthetic is used to numb the area. A small incision is made into the fatty tissue between the hip and buttock. Hormone pellets the size of a small grain of rice are inserted. Skin tape is used to cover the insertion site.
What to expect after BHRT pellet insertion
After a pellet insertion session, most patients report little to no discomfort or pain. In the days following the insertion, patients should avoid strenuous exercise and submersion in pools or bathtubs.
While each patient’s experience varies, some may experience a few side effects in the few weeks following the procedure such as mood swings, facial breakouts, hair growth or loss, fluid retention, and uterine spotting or bleeding in women. These symptoms are typically mild and dissipate after hormone levels begin to stabilize.
